While over the last few years or you might have noticed a disappearance in many of the bakeries in and around the Mississauga area. Despite this unfortunate trend there is one which has become the exception this unnerving happening – Britannia’s Italian Bakery.  And in fact that this might very well be the best bakery in Mississauga.

Located at 5925 Grossbeak Drive in the Meadowvale section of Mississauga, is where they have been dishing out the goods for the last 16 years, or as they put it “thrilling the taste buds of Mississauga residents”. With a wide variety of options food wise, they also do things that some would consider “non – traditional” for a bakery, maybe that’s because it’s a Deli as well. They have an Espresso Coffee Bar and serve Italian dishes, ranging from pasta to Lasagna.

They also cater with an array of choices broken down in to 3 sections:

PRIMI (Pasta Dish) – Lasagnas, Eggplant Parmigiana etc.

SECONDI (Meat Dish) – Meatball, Veal, Chicken, Pork etc.

CONTORNI (Side Dish) – Roasted Potatoes, Vegetables, Rice, Stuffed Peppers etc.

But the heart – like any other bakery – tends to lie in its baked goods, which you’ll find here, Cheesecakes, Tiramisu, Chocolate ones are all present, as well as croissants and other deserts which can be washed down with the coffees, from the plain and straightforward, to espressos and lattes.

Not to mention they offer Party Platters as well, if everything else already is not enough to satisfy your appetite. Meat ones, meat and cheeses, salads, finger foods as well as kid platters all can be had.

The Sabbath for Britannia’s would be Monday as that is the only day of the week it is not open, but the rest of the operating hours are:

Tuesday – Friday: 8 AM – 8 PM

Saturday: 8 AM – 6 PM

Sunday: 8 AM – 7 PM

Since 2003 Britannia’s has been striving to make their mark in Mississauga, and after over a decade and a half, it would be safe to say they have. Not only that, they may quite possibly be the best bakery in Mississauga – “British/ Italian” name and all.
