The final celebration of Canada 150 happens on Saturday November 25, when the city comes together to Light Up The Square!

This year’s annual tradition takes place from 5 PM to 9 PM, is to be sponsored by Rabba Fine Foods. As per the official description: “Celebrate the wonder that is the great white north where bright lights, winter’s magic, and cozy moments make for an unforgettable night.”

Mayor Bonnie Crombie and her council will convene at Celebration Square to kick-off the Christmas season, along with Global TV’s Liem Vu hosting the event. The Christmas lights will be in full display, along with a spectacular STARDREAMER Illuminated Experience, featuring a glow sway pole act, cosmic dance performances and over a dozen dazzling roaming acts from pixel poi performers to illuminated stars.

Live music will permeate the event, provided by Mississauga’s own DJ D-Smooth and Hogtown sound. One of the most popular attractions of the season, the ice rink, will be open for the first time of the season, as well as a winter wonderland with glowing polar bears, a light painting photo booth, a busker stage, digital graffiti wall.

Amazingly, there will even be a S’more station where you can roast your marshmallows, and a Glow Lounge where you can warm-up and grab some hot chocolate. And of course, Santa Claus and his elves will be there to take pictures with the kids!

“Surrounded by twinkling lights and 15,000 new friends, there is no better way to kick-off the Holiday season than Light Up The Square.” The Light Up The Square event attracts a massive crowd every year, young and old, so make sure to come early and wear warm clothes. From noon to 11 PM you will be able shop the Holiday market, which boasts over 50 artisanal food and merchandise stands. So come on out on November 25th and rejoice in the holiday season with your friends, family, or by yourself, and we promise it will be a day to remember!
