A cool day didn’t stop hundreds of families from coming out for an afternoon of free family fun and the lighting of Malton’s outdoor Christmas tree at Paul Coffey Park.

The event began at 2pm with free skating at the arena and carriage rides with Santa Claus through the park.  Kids were able to decorate gingerbread cookies had free hot chocolate and cookies for the afternoon.

Towards sunset, the beautiful voices of the senior choir from Malton’s Seventh Day Adventist Church and Trinity United were present to lead residents in some caroling as they gathered around the tree in anticipation of the official lighting.

The event was a great joint effort between the Malton BIA and Councillor Carolyn Parrish with additional funding support through a city of Mississauga grant.  The tree itself was a purchase of the Malton BIA with expectations of an annual community lighting event
