City Celebrates 90 Years of Canada-Japan Diplomatic Relations.

Canada and Japan have shared strong economic and cultural ties for the past 90 years. To celebrate this important milestone, Mayor Crombie is hosting a special event on Thursday, May 3 at the Mississauga Civic Centre.

Mississauga is home to nearly 100 Japanese companies. This represents almost half of all Japanese companies located in Ontario and more than any other city in Canada. The City also shares strong cultural ties and a sister-city relationship with Kariya, Japan since 1981.

A special celebration takes place on Thursday, May 3, 2018 7 – 9 p.m.

Japanese companies provide a major economic boost to Mississauga in the life sciences, aerospace, information and communications technology, logistics and transportation, and various advanced manufacturing sectors. In the past three years, Japan has moved from the third to the second highest source of foreign direct investment, after the United States.
