Don’t miss these culinary gems opening soon in Mississauga:
Neighbourhood: Lorne Park
Cuisine: Chef Inspired Farm to Fork
Some Lorne Park denizens may have been dismayed to hear that Tu Casa, the neighbourhood’s venerable restaurant and a local hub, has transitioned to new management, but they should take heart—we are betting they will be impressed with the resto’s new incarnation. None other than Chef John Ross Woodland, of the Chopped Canada fame, and his two partners James Baker and Augi DeOliveira, the owners of Oakville’s Nobel Bistro, are currently putting final touches on the new venue and menu, and planning to open early in 2018.
Neighbourhood: Port Credit
Cuisine: Global Comfort Food
Straight from Toronto’s Danforth community to Mississauga’s Port Credit community, Nomad’s Restobar, is opening its second location just west of Hurontario on Lakeshore Blvd. Head Chef David has been a Red Seal chef for over a decade (Red Seal is an interprovincial certification of excellence in skills), and the cuisine is intercontinental. “We give you the chance to try a roasted sweet potato chimichanga, pesto and mozzarella stuffed arancini or shrimp fried rice all in one place.”
Neighbourhood: City Centre
Cuisine: Authentic Japanese
If you haven’t tried authentic ramen yet—bowls filled with tonkatsu, a broth made by slow-simmering pork, or shio, a broth made using chicken, vegetables, seafood, and seaweed, topped with practically anything delicious and edible you can think of, 2018 is the year to try this hot culinary trend. Kinton Ramen is coming to Mississauga, and opening up at 4032 Confederation Parkway, in the newly developed Parkside Village area in City Centre.
Neighbourhood: East Credit (Heartland)
Cuisine: Asian and North American Staples
Jollibee, the restaurant juggernaut rapidly expanding throughout Asia and North America, is opening inside the Seafood City Supermarket at Heartland this January or February. The menu offers something to please almost everyone: from fast-food hamburgers to spaghetti to fried chicken, spring rolls, corned beef breakfast and more.
Neighbourhood: Port Credit
Cuisine: Italian (on the Waterfront)
Posta, the anxiously awaited Italian restaurant on the waterfront in Port Credit, will open its doors in 2018 at Stavebank and Lakeshore Road. The owners are the team behind the hugely successful Cafe Diplomatico in the Little Italy neighbourhood of Toronto. Posta should certainly reward the waiting—a venue to seat 400 diners, with a vast lakeside patio, appetizer and wine bars, and various options for tasting its famous fare, such as takeout and express counter service.
Here’s to great dining experiences in 2018!
