The 1975 religious experience that was his first Led Zeppelin concert changed musician Michael White’s life forever. Even though he’s been playing their music in more than 8,000 shows since 1977, however, it was in 2010 that he expanded on that religious aspect and thought how appropriate it might be to perform Led Zeppelin in a church. His choice of venue was inspired by the Led Zeppelin title, Houses of the Holy. White recalled in a recent interview, “I was thinking, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to play in the Houses of the Holy? Wouldn’t it be cool to sing Stairway to Heaven in a church?”
On Saturday, May 19, Led Zeppelin’s music will echo through the high ceilings of one of Port Credit’s ‘Houses of The Holy’, when Michael White & The White bring ‘An Evening of Led Zeppelin’ to First United Church in Port Credit to perform ‘THE BEST OF LED ZEPPELIN’.
While some people may have connotations of Led Zeppelin being into black magic, the occult and witchcraft, White insists there is a lighter, spiritual side of Led Zeppelin. The lyrics to Stairway to Heaven are a good example. Led Zeppelin lead vocalist Robert Plant has termed it a song of hope. One line goes, “There’s still time to change the road you’re on”. It’s inspirational,” White declared. “First United Church has such great acoustics. It’s a perfect venue for an old school rock show!”
But Zeppelin has always been with him. The Led Zeppelin music he and his band The White play is so true to the spirit of their idols that they have actually been endorsed by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.
‘An Evening of Led Zeppelin – Live in the Houses of the Holy is an all ages show.
