Beginning August 20, newcomers to Mississauga between the ages of 12 and 17 will have the opportunity to explore hip-hop culture by participating in master classes delivered by internationally-renowned American hip-hop artists.

After the week-long camp, participants will showcase their dance, emceeing and beat-making skills on August 24 at a block party at Mississauga Celebration Square.

In partnership with the U.S. Consulate of Toronto and Meridian International Center, Beats2Borders will be led by Junious “House” Brickhouse and hosted in the City’s newly opened Small Arms Inspection Building.

Beats2Borders is a week of high-intensity workshops and master classes that introduce Mississauga newcomers between the ages of 12 and 17 to the American art form of hip-hop.

In partnership with the U.S. Consulate of Toronto and Meridian International Center, Beats2Borders promotes cultural exchange and conflict resolution through hip-hop music and dance.

The City’s Culture division worked with community agencies to identify youth for the program.
