Wings are one of the most popular foods there is. This is particularly true when sports season is in full-swing, whether it’s hockey, baseball, football or soccer, there’s pretty much always a reason to divulge in a pound or two of wings.
Anchor Bar just opened its doors in Mississauga, actually replacing long-standing restaurant, Stir Kitchen & Beverage Co. at 10 Kingsbridge Garden. The new restaurant is in the north of the city, near Oceans food market and close to the city centre. It will be hard to miss as it sports a United States flag out front of the building, alongside a Canadian flag and one with the business logo.
Anchor Bar is a popular American eatery, which started life in New York and calls itself “the original buffalowing”. This Mississauga location isn’t the first in Canada however, as Anchor Bar already operates a store in Toronto.
As you may imagine, Anchor Bar specialises in Buffalo wild wings, which you can order in a variety of sauces; mild medium, spicy BBQ, Cajun rub, maple honey garlic, lemon pepper, suicide, and more. If you’re feeling particularly peckish, you can order a platter of 5lb’s, although maybe that’s better for a group.
Beyond the classic wings, Anchor Bar also offers a Wing Dinner, Buttermilk Chicken Tenders, Sticky Bones, Rib & Wing Combo, or The Whole Shebang. There’s also poutine, sides, salads, appetisers, brick-oven pizza, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, fish and chips, and more. So, while Anchor Bar specialises in wings, there is plenty more on offer for those looking a little something else.
The World Cup 2018 is coming up now in June and that is a pretty great excuse to head out to Anchor Bar and get elbow-deep in a plate of delicious wings, while you root for Brasil, Germany, England, France or one of the many countries involved. Eat up!
