Mississauga has no shortage of coffee shops, be it a Tim Horton’s on every corner, a Starbucks on every other corner, Second Cup’s littered between, or random independent shops that you should check out. However, Archtop Cafe in Port Credit is truly one-of-a-kind.

Located right in the heart of Port Credit, along the main street near Roc’n Doc’s, Archtop wears a rather small exterior with a black plaque atop the window with the cafe’s name on it. On the window you’ll notice a sticker of a guitar with the words “Archtop Cafe & Music”. And that right there is what sets Archtop apart from all other coffee shops in the city; it’s a social coffee shop that wears its inspirations on its sleeve.

Upon entering Archtop you might be surprised by how big it is inside and your eyes will immediately be drawn to the walls adorned with guitars and vinyl cases. Before you get to peruse the interior too much, you’re likely to be greeted by one of the many delightful barista’s. Often Archtop only has one person working at a time but that person is a quality barista who can juggle multiple customers and do so with a smile and a conversation. This is the reason Archtop Cafe became my go-to coffee shop in Port Credit, because you quickly build a rapport with the people who work there and the products they provide are pretty great too.

So what is on the menu? Well, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soup, sandwiches, pastries, bagels, salads, and bottled drinks. Archtop’s menu isn’t the most extensive or mind-blowing you’ll ever see, but everything on there is of a high-quality and made in-store. You will definitely leave happy and satisfied with your choice of food or drink.

So once you give your order and pay, you’ll probably be talking to the barista or a regular customer while you look at the hundreds of vinyl albums on the walls and in boxes by the counter. Classic rock is the genre of the store, and there you will find Kiss, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Tragically Hip, ACDC, Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, Elvis, and much more. Of course, all the records are for sale, so it’s an amazing place to come and find a hidden treasure for your collection.

As far as coffee shops in Mississauga go, Archtop Cafe is one of the more unique, if not the most. It’s a warm, welcoming coffee shop with a charming personality but one that isn’t overbearing. The food and drink is great and the service is among the very best you’ll find. It’s a great store that you’ll find yourself coming back to time and time again, and who knows, maybe you’ll find yourself wanting to pick-up a record!
