Port Credit is the go-to spot in Mississauga when it comes to night-life. With its strip of great bars and restaurants, it’s not hard to see why people of all ages flock to the town for a night of debauchery.
One of the reasons we love the town is the abundance of live music. If you walk down the main street in summer at night, you will be inundated with music billowing from windows and doorways across Lakeshore Road. And the same can be said of daytime in the parks and on street corners.
And, best of all, it’s always live music from exciting new and old musical acts that help keep the Canadian music scene as home-grown and talented as it always has been. And it’s literally all kinds of music; from jazz to hard rock, country to R&B, blues to dance, and everything in between.
If you’re hunting for an evening of casual music while you sit and enjoy a drink, then you should head to somewhere like Spice Lounge or The Brogue Inn. Both of those places offer low-key music that won’t prevent you from talking, but also providing a beautiful backdrop to your evening.
If it’s something more raucous you’re looking for, then you definitely need to check out Roc’N Doc’s, Door FiftyFive, or Shore. Those are three places where the music is the focal point of the evening, with every patron in the bar aimed towards the stage and singing along.
Of course, not everyone wants to sit in bars and restaurants with young people, in which case the Port Credit Royal Canadian Legion is a great place to go. The Legion is where you will find lots of live music, as well as one of the few places in Port Credit that offers karaoke, which is always a blast!
And even though summer is just about over, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the plethora of great music that happens throughout the sunny months. Port Credit’s J.C. Saddington Park plays host to the Summer Concert Series every Sunday throughout July and August, while there’s no shortage of incredible musical events like BuskerFest, The Waterfront Festival, and the Southside Shuffle.
Speaking of which, the beloved Southside Shuffle is happening this coming weekend! The jazz/blues festival takes place on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of September, and is kind of the unofficial end to summer. So make sure you come to Port Credit for the last big shindig of the summer!
And that about sums-up our love affair with Port Credit’s lively and vibrant music scene. It’s part of what makes Port Credit so attractive to people, young and old, and we only scratched the surface of what’s available; places like the Port Credit Social House, and The Port House also offer weekly live music.
So if you’re a music lover like us, you need to be checking out Port Credit on a weekly basis to discover new and old acts that are keeping the flame alive, and making Port Credit the place to be.
