On Saturday the 20th of January at 11 AM, gamers can play in a Fifa 18 tournament at the Microsoft Store in Square One Mall.
This gaming tournament is brought to you by the Rotary Club Mississauga, the same fine folk that provide the free movies in Port Credit park every year. The event raises funds for the Rotary Club’s causes, which include Seniors Horizon Program, Salvation Army Food Bank, Catastrophic World Event’s, Polio Plus, and several more. The money raised by the tournament goes to each of these causes and helps the world become a better place!
However, you too can gain something, by entering the tournament you stand the chance of winning a beautiful white Xbox One S console. That is, if you win the tournament, but even the runner-up receives an Xbox controller.
Below are some rules for the event, provided by the official Gaming For A Cause website:
- To participate in our FIFA Monthly Tournament, players must register online on our website any time or in person on Wednesdays at The Living Arts Centre between the hours of 12:15 pm – 1:15pm at the Rotary Club meeting.
- Participation in the tournaments are completely FREE. But you will pay for the $15.00 CAD deposit fee during registration and this deposit fee will be returned back to you when you show up for the tournament.
- Only club teams are allowed, 6 minute halves, at store event, each player will play a minimum of 3 round robin games. Based on your record, the top 16 players will qualify for sudden death match (lose and you are out). Hence determining the Winner.
As mentioned above, to participate in the tournament, gamers will have to register on the event website. If you’re a Fifa player then you could very well win the event and take home a brand new Xbox One S console, but even if you aren’t a gamer you can still come, have fun, and know you’re benefiting several charities.
For those who maybe aren’t familiar with Fifa or soccer but want to give it a shot, international teams are disallowed, so I recommend choosing Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester City, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, or my favourite team, Liverpool F.C. Those are a handful of the best teams in world football, so you can’t go wrong with any of those. Get out on the pitch and good luck!
