Celebration Square is normally home to a plethora of live music, cultural festivals, movie nights, and sporting events, but for the month of August it has also been home to some fantastic children’s events.
Each Tuesday night in August, Celebration Square has hosted Make-Believe Theatre – live children’s theatre shows! So far there have been two such events, The Paper Bag Princess and Peter Pan, but if you didn’t get a chance to see them there’s still time. On August 21st and August 28th, you can catch the final two plays of the season!
The final two plays will commence at 6:30 PM and last around an hour, on the Upper Square – which is near the amphitheatre entrance. Get there a little early to ensure a good seat and let your kids partake in the pre-show activities. So here are synopsis’ for the final plays:
- Tuesday, August 21: Memorable Munsch, Produced by Solar Stage Children’s Theatre
- Four popular Robert Munsch books come to life in an interactive live improv and comedy in Memorable Munsch. https://solarstage.on.ca/
- Tuesday, August 28: Princess Frownsalot, Produced by Bad Hats Theatre. Based on the book Princess Frownsalot. Text by John Bianchi. All rights reserved. Published by Pokeweed Press.
- Princess Frownsalot is a funny, inventive and honest story about young people finding their voices. Don’t miss this classic story right in your backyard. http://www.badhatstheatre.com/
These live theatre productions are a great way to spend an evening and take your kids to a play for free! Theatre is fun for all ages and the Make-Believe Theatre group are an incredibly talented bunch. So come support local talent and take-in a free show Tuesday the 21st and 28th!
