As many of you may know, if you’ve ever wanted to get your mitts on some of Ihop’s iconic pancakes you’ve had to go to Niagara Falls, or cross the border into the States.
What you may not have known was that the Niagara Falls location was the first such store on the eastern seaboard of Canada. There are, however, twelve different locations to be found in British Columbia. Anyways, the Niagara Falls locations won’t be the only ones near us for much longer.
At the end of October Ihop’s parent company, Dine Brands International, announced that it had come to an agreement with Minhas Holdings to bring new Ihop locations to the Greater Toronto Area.
As of writing, there have been no official locations announced to be the homes of Ihop, but the announcement said there would 15 new locations in the GTA. Therefore at least one Mississauga restaurant is all but guaranteed. The first new store is said to open in mid-2020 and it stands to reason that will be in Toronto, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we heard about a Mississauga location.
The incoming influx of Ihop to Mississauga will apparently bring 900 jobs to the area and a further $15 million to the construction industry for building the stores. So it’s a win/win, not least of all for us who get to dine on the mouth-watering pancakes.
Ihop is the home of all-things breakfast, from waffles to crepes, French toast to sandwiches, omlette’s to funnel cakes, and loads more. Of course, Ihop serves up incredible pancakes from standard buttermilk stacks to Mexican churro pancakes, and we’d be loathe not to mention the Italian cannoli pancakes. So there’s no shortage of great options to choose from and we really can’t wait for the brand to finally come to Mississauga, hopefully next year.
