It was one year ago last month when the buzzer rang and the Toronto Raptors clinched their first-ever NBA Championship with a win in game six over the Golden State Warriors.

The win was celebrated across the country, from Vancouver to Newfoundland, and here in Mississauga you could hear car horns blaring and see flags waving from Erin Mills to Malton. It was a huge moment in the history of Canadian sports and one we all felt a part of.

Hard to believe that it was more than a year ago, and absolutely no-one could have predicted how things would be a year on. After a brief hiatus, the Toronto Raptors are back playing in the Playoff’s, and even though they’re playing in the Scotiabank Arena, none of us can be there to cheer them on.

Last year Jurassic Park became famous as the outside arena for the Raptors fans who couldn’t (or wouldn’t) pay the exorbitant fees to get a ticket inside the arena. And here in Mississauga we had our own version at Celebration Square known as Jurassic Park West. Well the Park is closed down until further notice, and for once it’s not because of the dinosaurs.

Due to ongoing concerns around Coronavirus, Jurassic Park West has been moved East to the Paramount Fine Foods Centre: “Cheer for the Toronto Raptors as they play in the 2020 NBA Playoffs. We are turning the Paramount Fine Foods Centre parking lot ‘red’ and live streaming the games at our pop up Drive-In!”

That’s right you can head over to the Fine Foods Centre at 5000 Rose Cherry Place and watch the game like you would a drive-in movie, and bring the whole family along. Best of all, tickets are free and you can reserve your spot right here. Head to that link for more information, and we hope to see you at the Paramount Centre soon, the boys need all our support in their remaining games against the Boston Celtics if we hope to retain the title!
