2020 has been an immensely trying year for restaurants. With the initial shutdown causing most to close their doors and many to lay-off staff, it’s been a year that a lot of businesses won’t survive.

The restaurants that have survived are the ones that have evolved and tried to adapt to the “new normal”. We’ve seen countless eateries across Mississauga open their patio’s early, expand them, and ones that never had a patio before certainly have one now. All in an attempt to accomadate social distancing and make some money before what might be an even more trying winter.

One restaurant that has certainly moved with the times is Tandoori Flame at 5975 Mavis Road. The Indian-style buffet restaurant has just opened what they’re calling the city’s first beer and picnic garden in what used to be the parking lot.

The space offers 5000 feet of picnic tables and tents, which can host up to 150 people. The area features long picnic tables that are all kept six feet apart to fit within the parameters, and the restaurant staff are keeping sanitation a priority.

More importantly however, you can now get Tandoori Flames signature brand of Indian food alongside a crisp beer, while chilling outside with your friends. Tandoori offers lots of great options, from curry bowls to fish pakoras, desserts, and loads of beer and IPA’s.

This is an awesome addition to the Mississauga restaurant scene and one that could give us an insight in what 2021 could look like. We don’t know when exactly things will truly return to normal, although we’d all love nothing more, but until then we can make the most of this strange year by supporting great local restaurants like Tandoori Flame and enjoy the rest of the summer!
