Summer means constant extravaganza’s at Celebration Square! And this year has been no different; with constant happenings at the Square that celebrate various cultures the world over. One thing that is different however, is that this year marks the 10th anniversary of Mississauga’s Latin Festival!
The Latin Festival has been a staple of our city for a decade now and there’s a good reason for that; not only is there a healthy amount of Latino’s in Sauga, but because the entire culture is about loving life and food. A fiesta if you will.
This year’s Latin Festival will take place this weekend, on July 28th and July 29th. It’s a great event for the whole family, no matter what your background, and a fantastic way to pass a weekend!
So what can you do at the Latin Festival? Well this year’s fiesta will feature an art gallery, food court, kids zone, live music, folklore performances, and a full-on parade – as you can see above from last year.
Each year more than 200 artists participate in the festival among musical and folkloric groups, which showcase the cultural diversity of Latin America – which comprised 19 countries. There will also be over 50 vendors, selling crafts, clothes, costumes, and jewellery, that celebrate the respective countries, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, and many more. So if you’re still feeling lots of national pride from the World Cup, be sure a shirt with your country’s colours.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, the Latin Festival will also have over 20 food vendors, with cuisine from many different locales. That’s sure to scratch your itches while you enjoy the performances and children play in the kids zone. The Latin Festival takes place on July 28-29 and starts at 12 PM, and you are cordially invited to the fiesta!
