Mississauga Symphony Orchestra set for an impressive 48th concert season. We are thrilled to announce a 2019/20 concert season that is filled with stunning traditional symphonic works and a variety of accessible programming for all musical tastes!
Our popular Masterworks series of concerts will feature the best of traditional orchestral repertoire. Enjoy works by great composers including: Dvořák, Rachmaninoff, Gershwin and Copland. An impressive array of guest artists will join the orchestra this season, including pianist Talisa Blackman, violinist Leslie Ashworth, and the winner of the 6th Annual MSO Youth Concerto Competition.
Following two seasons of successfully produced opera that included Carmen and La Bohème, we return to the virtuosic art form with a production of Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece, La Traviata. This epic tale of love and tragedy has touched audiences across the world. Join us on January 25 and January 28 and experience the power of opera.
On March 28, we present Music by Request, a concert programmed entirely by our audience! Our music-by-request format is your opportunity to program the perfect evening of symphonic masterworks. To vote, please send an email naming your favourite symphonic works to: email@example.com. Make sure to check our social media channels throughout the season to take part in multiple rounds of voting.
On April 25, we present Star Wars, a concert filled with your favourite music from the iconic film series. From the Imperial March to the Throne Room End Title, this concert will feature your favourite music from the Star Wars galaxy. Arrived dressed as your favourite character and immerse yourself in the sounds of Star Wars.
This holiday season, we are delighted to welcome back the Mississauga Festival Chamber Choir for what has become an annual presentation of Highlights From Messiah. If you prefer a family oriented program, A Merry Little Christmas will bring together the MSO, MSYO and special guests, the Mississauga Children’s Choir, in a program that will stir the holiday spirit in everyone. Jingle your bells and sing-a-long as a combined orchestra of over 200 musicians play your holiday favourites!
Now entering its sixth season, the Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra continues to be a stunning success. The MSYO is comprised of a main Symphony Orchestra and two training groups; Sinfonietta, an all strings ensemble, and Symphonic Band, an ensemble for winds, brass and percussion. We are proud of all 170 young musicians and are dedicated to supporting youth engagement in Mississauga.
