Dairy king is something of a staple in Port Credit, Mississauga. It’s a business that has been around since 2002, serving locals huge portions of ice cream, Belgian waffles, crepes, milkshakes, and so much more.
It came as something of a surprise then, when recently Dairy King underwent some big changes. You might have noticed the awning out front has went from navy to a bright purple, and it no longer says ‘Dairy King’, but ‘Yumbudz’.
The new Yumbudz continues on the tradition of decadent ice cream and sweets in big portions, but with a few new twists and additions. The main portion of the menu can be seen here:
As you can see, the walk-in menu still offers scoop ice cream that includes flavours like chocolate chip cookie dough, lime sorbet, birthday cake, cotton candy, salty caramel, and espresso flake amongst many others. There’s also lots of wonderful soft serve options, and it’s hard to recommend anything other than the classic flurry!
If regular old ice cream doesn’t float your boat, then how about a banana Yumboat, frozen yogurt, a sundae, waffles, and crepes. What makes Yumbudz unique however, is the option of adding “Yumbits” to your ice cream of choice. The Yumbits include peanuts, oreos, shredded coconut, banana, almonds, pecans, toffee bits, Reese’s pieces, M&M’s, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream. And you can toss also that in to make a shake of your choosing.
Beyond the cold options, Yumbudz also offers tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and there will soon be a whole new savoury menu. If you’re just looking for a quick fix, you can even order a shot of salted caramel, hazelnut, orange, or chai.
The surroundings of Yumbudz have not changed though, with some seats outside and in. Dairy King may be gone but the essence remains the same. If you plan on coming to Port Credit this summer, and you probably will, make sure to stop off at Yumbudz for some delicious ice cream.
