While we’re only about halfway through spring, and it has been a particularly wet one, this weekend hosts an event that aims to begin the summer a little early and provide lots of great, free entertainment.
The Pepsi Summer Kick-Off is taking place at Celebration Square in the city centre on Monday, May 20. Of course, that’s Victoria Day and part of the long weekend, so you’ll be off work and able to join the party. The official event description can be seen below:
Join us as we soar to new heights with spectacular appearances from Xtreme Bike Show and Elevate: A Cirque Production. With a Mini Farmers Market, food trucks and dazzling performances at Make Believe Theatre, the Summer Kick-Off is a true a taste of what to expect this season at the Square.
Enjoy endless summer fun with air brush face painting, roaming stilt walkers, giant floor pianos, interactive Silly Putty Making Station, or just splash around in the Fountain.
Make some noise at the Rhythm Works Thunder Station, Drumming Workshops or unleash your inner Rock Star with our friends from Air Guitar Canada leading an epic Air Guitar Along!
The event will feature a Mini Farmers Market, Silly Putty Workshops, Xtreme Bike Show, a Drumming Workshop, Air Guitar Workshop, a kids theatre, an aerial circus show, and lots more.
The Summer Kick-Off is a fun event for the whole family and, like we said, is free for everyone to attend. It’s unclear if there’s going to be any food or drink vendors at the event, but you’ll be walking distance from Square One Mall where there is enough food to feed the five thousand.
It’s set to be one of the first huge events of the season and, fingers crossed, the current weather forecast is saying 17° for Monday. So here’s hoping we get some decent weather, otherwise it’s going to be an ironic Summer Kick-Off!
